In project it says '13%' against a resource name. Why?

I have just put together my first project using version 2000. I am learning
from the tutorial only so am a bit in the dark. Against my name (as a
resource) on the Gantt bar it says '13%'. Can anytone tell me what this
means, and how to get rid of it? Or, is it important and am I missing
something vital? Thanks

DeeDeeB,

13% against a name in the Gantt Chart means that this resource is allocated
at 13% of his/her time on the task.
If you have a calendar with 8 hr/day, that means that the resource is
working 1 hr/day on that task.

Thanks both, very helpful. I will have aproper look at the series Mike, and
hopefully that will help. Just as a matter of interest, is there a way of
getting rid of, or hiding, the percentages? For instance, if I was going to
use the Gantt chart in a slide, it would look cleaner without the percentages.

Format / Bar Styles...
In the Bar styles dialog:
Select the symbol (blue bar by default) of your tasks.
Click the Text tab (halfway down the dialog)
Delete the Resource Name field which is displayed to the right (or replace
it by another field)

You're welcome, DeeDeeB :)

The %Units cannot be removed - it is there to tell you how much of the
resource has been assigned to that task. Only when a resource is assigned
at 100% will the %age not be shown. One trick is to use the Resource
Initials field rather than the Resource Name field. Then put the actual
resource name in the Initials field and get that to show on the Gantt chart
via Format Bar Styles.
