Inbox email deletes upon close

After viewing an email in the Inbox, clicking the x to
close the message removes the email. I cannot find it
anywhere not even in the Deleted items.

Any suggestions?!

Check your view. Go to View, Current View, and make sure you're not set to
unread messages.
