incoming email disappears

when i do a send/recieve it appears that my incoming email is downloading but
nothing shows up in the inbox. I checked my POP server and I have email but
for some reason I dont get it.

Check the views and filters on the Inbox. Also, if you have a program
scanning incoming mail, disable or uninstall it.

no filters view looks ok, no spam or any inoming blockers. any other
suggesations?
