Rev. Vegetable Lasagne

I'm writing course documentation on a lot of topics. I use 2007 office for
editing, saving the docs in 97-2003 format so I can print it at a student's
place, saving me paper and toner.

I have a laptop and desktop both with 2007 and both work fine and
consistently. When I open it on the user's 2003 office, the spacing is
messed up. Text boxes that were perfect on 2007 chop off multiple lines at
the bottom, and one or two lines appear on a following page, or an extra
blank page pops up. It looks very unprofessional. I have to sacrifice a
consistent look to fit things in, wasting time, because I need to change
the font size to make things fit.

Any ideas why?

I'll try pdf's and see if the same thing happens.

Thanks for any help.

Two things you can do that might help:
a. Install a printer driver on your computer for the printer you're
using at student's place, and set it as the default printer in Windows
while you're working on your course documentation. Word uses informaton
from the printer driver to lay out your pages. It doesn't matter that
you're not actually connected to that printer.
b. In Word 2007, click on Word Options | Advanced | Compatibility
Options: Lay out this document as if created in: Microsoft Word 2003 | OK.
