Incorrect date in calendar drop down control box

We have inserted project files into a master gantt and set up hyperlinks.

When you view the start\finish dates in both the master and individual
gantts then the calendar drop down box displays the correct date.

When you open the gantt via the hyperlink then the dates within the calendar
drop down box appear in a US format rather than UK. The dates displayed
within the gantt are still UK.

The date format being used is DD\MM\YYYY.

We are able to replicate this behaviour in Project 2000 and Project 2007 and
by using other gantts.

Any ideas?
