Increase space between text and its underline

In Word 2002 can this be done? Using font size 28 for selected
text that is underlined, but would like to add just a bit more
space between the text and its underline.

TIA,
George

Word doesn't give you control over the distance between the underline and
the underlined text.

Perhaps you could do this some other way, for example, by placing the text
in a table cell and adding a bottom border.

Thanks, Stefan. Can you walk me thru the steps to use that
method? I'm pretty much of a novice using Word.

Thanks again,
George

The assumption here is that the text paragraph is sufficiently short to fit
between margins without wrapping to the next line. Insert a single-cell
table with a bottom border (and no other borders) and paste in the text.

To insert a table, click Table | Insert | Table. To modify borders, select
the table and click Format | Borders and Shading.
