indicator column issue

We are using MSP pro 2002 along with project server. One
of the project mangagers has a project plan where she is
unable to get the envelope with a question mark out of
the indicator column within MSP. She has saved and then
published the project plan. When she places the cursor
over the envelop the text box appears and says - There
has not yet been a repsonse to all the publish
assignments messages for this new task. What does this
mean?

Thanks for any help

It means that there has not yet been a response to all the publish
assignments messages for this new task.

To clear it do the following:
From views menu select resource usage view.
Go to insert menu and insert the column named "response pending"
set the values in that column to no.
The indicator will disappear.

The indicator means that there is a resource in this project whose Workgroup
setting has been specified as "E-Mail only". This problem could be caused
by a couple of potential situations:

1. The project manager could have created a non-enterprise project while
she was not logged into Project Server in Microsoft Project 2002. In this
case, she probably typed her resources into the Resource Sheet and set the
Workgroup option for each resource in the plan. When she published the
project, the indicators would have appeared automatically.

2. The Project Server administrator inadvertently set the Workgroup option
for one or more resources to "E-mail only" in the Enterprise Resource Pool.
I cannot be sure why this would have been done since you are using the
Project Server enterprise environment for project communication. You are
using Project Server for collaboration, aren't you?

To solve this problem, you will probably need to do one of two things:

If the problem is caused by the first situation, then the project manager in
question will need to create a Project Server login account on her own PC in
Microsoft Project 2002. She will then need to log into Project Server in
Microsoft Project 2002, and then import the offending project into your
Project Server database by clicking Tools - Enterprise Options - Import
Project to Enterprise. She will need to pay special attention to the step
in the Wizard about matching non-enterprise resources with existing
enterprise resources in the Enterprise Resource Pool. The project should
then be republished.

If the problem is caused by the second situation, complete the following
steps:

1. Open Microsoft Project 2002 and log into Project Server with
Administrator permissions
2. Open the offending project and determine which resources are causing the
problem
3. Close the project
4. Click Tools - Enterprise Options - Open Enterprise Resource Pool
5. Select the resources in question, then click the Open/Add button
6. Double-click each resource and set the Workgroup option to "Default",
since the Default method of communication should be Project Server for your
environment
7. Click OK when finished
8. Save and close the Enterprise Resource Pool
9. Close Microsoft Project

Now ask the project manager to open their project again, and to publish the
assignments again (Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments.).
