InfoPath form in a Groove 2007 Beta workspace

I’m trying to import an InfoPath 2007 form into the Groove 2007 beta product
and it is not working. I’ve done the following:

• I created a new InfoPath form (using InfoPath 2007 beta 12.0.4017.1004)
with
a single string property (onefield)
• I set the security of the form to “Restrictedâ€
• I promoted the “onefield†property
• I set the submit option for the form to “hosting environment†and “main
submitâ€

• I then open the Groove 2007 beta (4.2.0.2554) launch bar and create a new
standard workspace
• I add the InfoPath forms tool to the new workspace and attempt to import
the “one field.xns†file
• At this point nothing appears to happen in that the “onefield†property
does not
appear in the designer, etc.

Any suggestions on what I’m doing wrong and why this is not working?

Thanks

Hi Mark,

To import an InfoPath 2007 form into Groove 2007, you need to do the
following steps:

There are some prerequisites for an InfoPath template to be imported into a
Groove Forms Tool. How to configure an InfoPath template for Groove is
detailed in the help topic “Preparing an InfoPath form template for importing
into Groove.†The topic is located in Groove help under Creating Custom
Tools->About Custom Tools Created with the Groove InfoPath Forms Tool. To
answer the two specific issues from the dialog…

To configure a template to submit to the hosting environment, it must be
configured in the Submit Options dialog (Tools->Submit Options).

The other message in the dialog is a warning message indicating that there
are no promoted fields. Unless fields are promoted the only fields they’ll be
able to use in views will be the Groove system fields (Created, Modified,
etc.). In order to promote fields, you need to go into the Form Options
dialog (Tools->Form Options) and select “Property Promotion†to promote
fields for use in Groove or details on the types of fields that may be
promoted for use in Groove see the help file.

Hope it will be helpful.

Regards,

Shirley

Shirley,

Thanks for the reply. Turns out that as noted below I had aready promoted
the field, set the InfoPath form submit option to "hosting environment", and
set the security and trust level of the form to "restricted". I could still
not successfully import the InfoPath form into Groove.

After playing around a bunch, the thing that finely allowed me to
successfully import the .xns into Groove was to "publish" the form to a .xns
file rather than using the "save" or "save as" file option in InfoPath. Once
I "published" the InfoPath form, importing it to Groove worked fine. I don't
understand why this is required but it seems to be the step that is missing
in the instructions you reference below and a step that was not made clear in
the Groove help documentation.

Thanks
