I have recently set up a new machine that acts as our
mail server and copied the pst file across from the old
machine.
When I try to use the people or distribution list
facility when setting up a rule I get the following
message:

The address list could not be displayed. The contacts
folder associated with this address list could not be
opened; it may have been moved or deleted or you do not
have permissions.

Can anybody tell me what I need to change to get this to
pick up the contacts list in the pst file that I am using.
I even uninstalled office xp and reinstalled and started
with a clean pst file but I get the same error.

Any ideas please?

regards

Try cleaning out the list of Contact type folders (at least the reference to
the old one) here in Outlook: Tools menu > E-mail accounts > View/Change
existing directories > Click Next > Highlight Outlook Address Book > Click
Change
