Ink Annotations in a Protected Document

I have created a form that I don't want my users to alter (other than filling
it out), however, it requires signatures. All my users have tablet computers
and we would like to take advantage of this feature in this situation, but
the protection prevents using the ink annotations. I have divided the
document into sections and 'unprotected' the sections containing the
signature block but no dice. Any help you could provide would be greatly
appreciated.

At least up to Word 2003, there's no support for tablet ink for this
sort of thing. You would need the same mechanism as for non-tablets: a
macro that un-protects the document, lets the user do what he has to do,
and then re-protects the document again.

[I have no idea about support in Word 2007 -- I suspect nothing has
changed. In that regard ... :)]

Infopath might offer more.
