Insert animated characters

How do I insert animated characters on the Powerpoint, like Merlin and other
such charachters.

You can insert an animated gif like any image (insert > picture > from file).
Otherwise you could use a PowerPoint add-in like Vox Proxy (www.voxproxy.com).
