insert text box

can the insert text box be in word be made to come up just like the insert
text box in powerpoint? I'm using office 2002.

What do you mean by "made to come up just like the insert text box in
PowerPoint"? Do you mean with the "Click to add..." text?

If you are using the Drawing toolbar and inserting a text box then
this should be the same as Word. Perhaps you are encountering the
Drawing Canvas?? If that's the case then in Word go to
Tools/Options/General and turn off "Automatically create drawing
canvas..."
