Insert video, turns white, won't play

I've noticed that when I add a movie in my PowerPoint presentation, only the smaller ones will play. When I embed a larger file, go to Show, the movie turns white and won't play. No sound either.

Is there a size limit that PowerPoint can handle?

Well, how large is large? I'd be more inclined to suspect a codec issue.
Probably those larger files were created with a codec that's not on your
system.

I found out what was happening. I read an article from a post. When the path to your movie is longer than 120 characters, the link will be broken. Sure enough, the way I break down my filing system adds a lot of folders. Also, I make my file name long enough so I know exactly what it is. All that made the path too long. I kept the folder breakdown, but shortened the filename, and it worked!

On the movies that worked with no problem, the filenames were already short.

I spent an entire weekend with this...so frustrating. I should have come to the Community as soon as I realized the problem.
