Inserting a file "link" in outlook 2002

Having an issue trying to insert a link (not a hyperlink,
don't want users to know the path to the file) into a
post, which is directed out to a file on a server. These
posts that were previously created were done in exchange,
which we were able to insert a shortcut which was only a
shorcut and it open the version of the file that is on
the server. Now....having upgraded to XP and now on
outlook 2002 we are unable to do this. When inserting a
file you do not have to option to insert as a link, it
inserts the whole entire file. It needs to be just be a
shortcut as when they make a change to the document they
don't have to go and change all the posts that direct to
one of these files. When you create a shortcut to your
desktop and insert that into the post with 2002 links are
not trusted and you have to save it to your desktop first
prior to opening it. You can insert a hyperlink, but
that is not what we want either, as it displays the
path. We do not want users to know by first glance where
the documents are located. We want the icon to appear as
to what application it is in. i.e. word, excel, pdf.
and it would state underneath click here to start. Nice
and simple for the client and they don't know where it is
stored either.

If anyone has any ideas on how to insert a shortcut or a
registry edit that can be done to allow this that would
be more than awsome.
