Inserting a PowerPoint as an object into a Presentation

J

Jackie

Hi, I really hope some one can help me as I am starting to
get really annoyed with this!!

I am using PowerPoint 2002 and have been sent a PowerPoint
template into which I have to embed some presentations of
my own.

I have been using the Insert, Object, Create from File
route and then Display as Icon.

When I run the slideshow and click on the embedded
presentation, it starts up but won't advance from the
first slide, I also have no right click and have to use
escape to leave the presentation.

I have tried embedding the file as both a .ppt file and
a .pps file but get the same results for both.

Am I missing something obvious??

Sounds like your other presentation is set up as a KIOSK. Open PowerPoint,
open this other presentation, click "Slide Show, "Set up show, make sure the
"Presented by a speaker" is clicked.

Now, as far as what you are trying to do, here is what I recommend - either:

1. insert your slides into this presentation by clicking "Insert", "Slides
from file", or

2. Put any object on this slide, right-click and select "Action Settings",
click the "Hyperlink to" dropdown and select "Other PowerPoint
presentation", browse to your file and select it. Keep in mind that the
absolute best way to maintain "links" between files is to put the file in
the same folder as the "master" presentation before you create the link.
That way when you move the file(s) around, the links will always work.

Good Luck! Holler back if this doesn't make sense.

Jackie,

For it to run through all the slides, you have to first make sure you have
recorded timings: Slideshow| Rehearse Timings|.

Then, you need to Set Up Show under the same menu, and make sure it is set
to run with timings, if present. Hope that helps get it sorted.

Thankyou!!!!

Changing the kiosk setting has solved the problem, I can
now click on my embedded PowerPoints and they fire up
perfectly.

Thanks for your help,

Jackie
