inserting a sentence.

I am trying to edit a word document by inserting a sentence but as I type the following text is being replaced. What can I do to stop this?

G'Day Dave,

The action you describe is "Overtype Mode".

Be Clear!

To insert text in Word, navigate to the insertion
point and (NO DO NOT HIT THE "Insert" KEY)
simply type........

Using the "Insert" key toggles between "Insert" and
"Overtype" Modes.

Press the Insert key to toggle back from Overtype to Insert mode (or
double-click OVR on the status bar).
