Inserting bullets

How can I insert a manual bullet in to a document where ever I want it
without haveing Word try to take control of it. Word 2003.

Either go to Insert | Symbol and pick it out of the list, or you can get a
standard black bullet by holding down ALT and pressing 0149 on the numerical
keypad.
Hold down ALT until you have types all the numbers. Remember, you must use
the numbers from the numrical keypad.

You can also go to Tools>AutoCorrect>AutoFormat as You Type and remove the
check for Automatic Bulleted Lists (depending on version of Word).

Or, wait until you finish the para (press Enter), click in that para and
then format that one para with the Toolbar button or any bullet you wish from
Format>Bullets and Numbering.
