Inserting Columns

P

PA

I am a relatively new user of Project, and will have lots of questions, I am
sure.

Question: I added a column to Gantt view, the Project column, and the file
name appeared in it.
When I added the same column to Resource Usage, the path and file name was
displayed. Can anyone explain this behaviour???
Thanks for any insight.

Hi PA,

Well, this is a stab in the dark, but are you working in a master project
environment (a resource pool that supplies resources to multiple project
files)? Is the resource pool file stored in a different network
drive/folder than the other project files? I believe the path information
that appears is relative to the source location of the file in question. So
if you add the Project field to a Gantt chart view, and all of the tasks in
that view are in projects files that are stored in the same directory, you
will only see the file name. If you switch to the Resource usage view, it
is organized by resources (coming from the pool file) and if the pool is
stored in another directory, I believe that would explain the full path
issue.

As I said, just a stab --

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
