Inserting Pictures from the Internet

Cindy

I'm trying to insert a picture from the Inernet on a PowerPoint slide and it is not working. It is a JPEG file and when I select JPEG format when it asks to convert the file I keep getting an error message that syas an "error occurred while importing this file". Any ideas why this won't work? I'm using the Student and Teacher Edition 2003

Thanks

Cindy

Cindy,
I recommend saving the picture to your hard drive and then inserting that
copy. Let me know if this works any better.

Thanks for your response. I tired saving the file to my hard drive and then inserting the picture, but I still get the same error message. Any other thoughts?

While I can't imagine why Kathy's suggestion isn't working, the next thing I
would try is a Clipboard transaction:

1. Right-click on the photo and choose Copy.

2. Switch to PowerPoint and go to Edit | Paste Special.

3. Choose one of the bitmap options.

Does that work...?

Hi,

Just a proviso...

If you copy an image out of a web browser, and *if* the image is used to
hyperlink to some other web area, the copy and paste will also carry the
hyperlink across to PowerPoint with it. That will be a nuisance if
PowerPoint tries to connect to an external site everytime the hyperlinked
image is loaded.

Cindy,
Was the file saved as a JPG from the internet? IE will save images as
BMP if the Temporary Internet Files are Full.
