Inserting Song Files

I have a couple of hundred song files in Word and plain txt format. When I
open them with Powerpoint, the text comes in but it is in outline format.
Is there a way around this feature.
Thanks

You could open the file in Notepad then copy/paste the text onto individual
PPT slides

When you open the text file directly, PowerPoint treats it like the contents
of an outline, so it creates lotsa slides.

Bummer - I was hoping for a way to avoid cut and paste. Way too long by the
time I get to song 200.

Would spending some time in the Word document be worth your while?

When PPT opens outlines, it uses Word styles to determine what will end
up where.

Word Style --> PPT position
Heading 1 --> Title text
Heading 2 --> Primary bullet
Heading 3 --> Secondary bullet

Etc.

If you run through your Word document and apply styles, I'd bet it will
save you a lot of copy/paste on the PPT end of things.

I could spend the time in Word, but it is the end result in PowerPoint that
is the problem. Namely the outline bullets etc. I just want a simple text
box for song verses.

Well, if everything comes in on the correct slide, simply go to
View/Master and remove the bullets from the placeholder there. Also turn
on View/Rulers, hold down the CTRL button, and drag the carats on top of
each other to eliminate the indents if you want.
