Install Office 2003 OEM on replacement laptop?

My client's Sony Vaio laptop died (glass of in-flight wine!) along with
his copy of MS Office SB 2003 OEM, which I'd installed for him.

He's replaced the laptop -can I just install the old copy on the new
laptop and then use telephone activation to explain the situation to
MS?

Thanks! -LWood

Nope - OEM installation stays with the FIRST machine it is installed
on......

Thanks Gordon,

I thought as much. We only got about four months use out of it :(

Maybe the insurers will cough up for a new copy.

Hi L.,

MS does make some allowances for disaster recovery/loss and you may be able to use telephone activation method if you have the
original CD installation key for the Office 2003 OEM copy on the new computer to explain the scenario you're in, but if the PC and
the software was covered by insurance you may find getting a retail copy through that route to be more effective and flexible.
