install/ uninstall problems

I have uninstalled FP so that I could reinstall and reset initial settings.
The initial uninstall went well. I neglected to reboot after I uninstalled FP
and reinstalled it right away. The initial install progressed and the system
told me to reboot to finish the installation. When I did, the installation
progressed to the mid point and stalled/ froze. I allowed it to continue
overnight and It did not progress. Now it will not continue to install and
it will not allow me to unstall so I can start fresh. The control panel
indicates that FP is installed. When I open FP it is locked.

Does anyone know how I can correct this problem? Are there files I can
delete, in lieu of uninstalling, so I can reinstall from scratch?
