I am trying to install Office Professional Edition 2003.
At some point installation stops and I get this message:
"Microsoft Office Setup did not complete successfully. We
are sorry for the inconvience.
An error occured during the installation, and Setup was
unable to complete."
It also gives me an opportunity to tell Microsoft about
this problem.
By way of background, a couple of days ago my computer
began to freeze up during the startup process. I never
was able to solve that and ended up reinstalling the
Windows XP Professional operating system. After that
everything seemed ok, the computer started, files were
there and most programs worked. However, the Microsoft
programs didn't work. I reinstalled VB.Net with no
problem. However, when I try to install Office I get the
message above and no installation. I went to Control
Panel>Add/Remove Programs and noticed that Office was
still listed so I removed it to try a clean
installation. Still no luck.
What is wrong and how do I correct it?
