Installation of MS Project server in Win 2K Network

Hi
I like to know that when installing MS Project server it asks for User ID / Password. Does it do validation of the account given and the password before continuing the remaining part of Installation

I got this problem , recently, while some one was installing the MS project Server and he used the Old domain name and password of the Administrator account. The Installation completed sucessfully but later while connecting with client it generated application events in the event viewer for "Check User Name & password

I am surprised how it can happen if my OLD domain does not exist and there is no more trust relation ship between two forests/ domain

I have one domain with name : FQDN= sales.ms.com ------ NetBIOS Name:= sale
The New Infrastructure of Win2K network has
Domain Name : FQDN= sales.com------------------NetBIOS Name:= Sale-Ne

There was a trust established between these two domains for an hour and then the first domain was removed completely from the network ( literally does not exist)

after a month / 15 days MS Project was installed on new domain and the account ID / password given during the installation wa

User ID: sales\administrator
Password: ***********

It allowed the installation.. but it didn't work after that

Can some one help me how this happen
