Project 2007 Standard User Instal

I

Ian Fry

Installed Project Server 2007 Std on Windows Server 2003 as Administrator
Instal competed, Software Registered.
First Logon went through setup and Created MUI and all OK.

Logon to same machine as a normal domain user.
Configuration starts, ends, Create MUI starts ends.
Splash Screen for Project 2007,
Back to configuration - endless loop.

Log on as same user but to local machine, not domain
All OK.

Created new Domain user, first use - back to the loop.

Reboots failed to clear the problem.
Repair Software failed to clear the problem.

I notice that the Software is Registered to the Administrator

Any clues.?
My suspicion is that a config file is being written to an incorrect
location, or a registry entry is not correct

Hi Ian,

Project Standard is the stand alone version of Project. You need Project
2007 Professional version to work with Project Server. If you want to use
servers, I suggest you try posting on the microsoft.public.project.server
newsgroup. Please see FAQ Item: 24. Project Newsgroups. FAQs, companion
products and other useful Project information can be seen at this web
address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

I am not trying to instal Project Server,
Just a one off copy to help the user plan stuff.

Ah well, another thousand bucks down the drain.

The issue is not that the software will not instal at all
Administrator can use it.
This user logged on to the local machine can use it.
(No printers etc)
This user on the domain gets in a loop at user configuration

Your orignal post said you were installing Project Server. Is that what
you're doing or are you installing Project 2007 Standard or Professional
versions? They are 3 distinct products. If it IS Project Server, note that
you can't use it to create project plans and schedules - you create the
plans with Project Professional which are then published to the server.
