Installation Prompts long after install

R

Randolph Scott

I have had office installed and running ever since I received this machine.
It's just over a year old now. Suddenly, I'm being prompted to install any
Office application I open. I "cancel" the prompts and the application goes
ahead and runs like nothing happened. I have no idea why these prompts are
occuring and would love to simply get rid of them. If I had the disks to
install, I would simply do it and be done with it. However, not only was the
software installed through the manufacturer (Dell) but I inherited the
machine through I group that I work with. No disks came along with it from
them.

Don't know what version of Office you have, so I'm going to guess...
See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=265194 "OFF2000: Windows
Installer Appears Every Time a Program Is Started". Not having the
original installation disks may cause you more grief in the future
because you might not be able to add or remove features, update the
program with service packs, or uninstall the program.
