Installer keeps launching in Office XP

M

Mark Flynn

I had a trial version of Office running on my laptop. I installed Office
XP. Now every time I launch an Office XP application, Installer appears for
several minutes, then disappears and I can use Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.
normally.

Also, I had MS Works on my hard drive and I removed Works - but that had no
effect on the Office - Installer problem.

I'm running Windows XP Pro

Any ideas?

Thanks, Mark Flynn

Hi, Mark,

When does the installer apear? Have you previously installed Office XP
completely? Does it appear to be installing anything?

I think I'd first try to repair / re-install Office to see if that mitigates
the issue.

If not, the following may be relevant--did you ever have Office 2000
installed previously?

OFF2000: Windows Installer Appears Every Time a Program Is Started:

You could also try method 2 in that article, but substitute 10.0 for 9.0.
