Installing Office 2003 - need Data2.MSI

W

Wayne Heckler

I am attempting to install Office 2003 and got into Step
4 of 5.
Now the Wizard requesting Data2.MSI
The Office 2000 Disks I have don't have the required
version. (I probably should not have selected
the "replace" option when I began the install, but
probably too late now.)
The installation must be looking for some updated version.
I've researched the web and cant find a way to get an
updated version of that file. Help.

Hi Wayne,

Data2.msi is on CD#2 of Office 2003 family of
products. You should see, in the box where it
asks for the CD a 'use feature from' area that
says which product it's looking for.

If Office 2000 is on the PC or if you have a product
from the 2000 series product that is not included in
the 2003 edition you're installing Office 2003 will leave
the older version, but the MS Installer may determine
that the 2000 version needs to be repaired and would
ask for the CD. If you don't have the CD then you may
want to choose to use Add/Remove Programs in the Windows
Control Panel on the 2000 product.
