Installing office 2003 Pro along side office XP

I want to install Office 2003 along side of Office XP.
I realize that I can only run one version of Outlook
which I loaded sepratly from the other office components
on top of my Outlook XP version. Now I want to load the
other components in a seperate directory so I can run
both versions, but when I try and run setup it does not
allow me to choose where to install the program it just
offers which components to up-date and then appears to
just up-date my office XP - any help would be apprecated.

Is there not the option of a Custom Install?
Why install both versions, inc all apps other than OL?
