Installing Office 2007 on multiple PC's

I have several PC's at home and would like to upgrade to Office 2007. Will
this require separate licenses or can I use a single purchased copy on all
machines?

I have the latest version of Office 2007 I purchased ysterday from Costco. I
have a home network with 6 computers linked to a network server. The use is
for students and home use.

Depends on the edition of Office that you need, the number of computers
you're talking about, and how you are using these computers.

Which 2007 edition (e.g., Standard, Professional, Ultimate, etc.) did
you get?

Hi Drum,

The MS Office 2007 Home and Student edition allows installation on 3 machines. The information should be on the side of the product
box, if I recall correctly.

I have the same Office Suite. I used one license for my laptop, one for my
mom's laptop, and the last one on my desktop computer. My laptop has since
died and I can't retrieve any data from my hard drive. Can I reuse the
license from my crashed laptop on another computer? I want to use it on my
desktop at work to be able to jazz up my projects.

Yes, you can.

No - that license is for non-commerical work only. You cannot install it on
your work computer.

You mean he *may* not install it. He most certainly *can* install it
although you and MS would have a hissy fit if he did.

I'm not the one who wote the license and the OP is the one who agreed by the
license.

Hi, can I install the Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 on 3 laptops?
But they are not in the same network.

Because I read the specification under the box read "Sharing notebooks
requires users to be on the same network".

Thanks :)

Of course, as long as they are in the same location....
But they are not in the same network.

Doesn't matter

Yes - if you want to share files, then you either need to be on the same
network, or you can email them back and forwards....

Here is the applicable part of the License, so No.

a. Licensed Device. You may install one copy of the software on three
licensed devices in your household for use by people who reside there.
The software is not licensed for use in any commercial, non-profit, or
revenue-generating business activities.

If the two places are households, why not? How would MS lose money? How
would they know?

Because at some point, you will need to stop asking yourself "how will they
know" if you want to get into heaven! :)
