Both hell and heaven can be found right here on earth, albeit hell is a

An old Spanish proverb says, "Ladrón que roba a ladrón, cien años de
perdón." In English this would be "A thief who robs another thief is
forgiven."

Here is the applicable part of the License, so No.

a. Licensed Device. You may install one copy of the software on three
licensed devices in your household for use by people who reside there.
The software is not licensed for use in any commercial, non-profit, or
revenue-generating business activities.

If the two places are households, why not? How would MS lose money? How
would they know?

Hi, can I install the Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 on 3
laptops?
Of course, as long as they are in the same location....

But they are not in the same network.
Doesn't matter

Because I read the specification under the box read "Sharing notebooks
requires users to be on the same network".
Yes - if you want to share files, then you either need to be on the
same network, or you can email them back and forwards....

Ah, I think I see the pirates new justification.

Great quote, misplaced object however. Unless you consider Microsoft simply
a thief and nothng else.

Oops, I forgot about the thread that this covers.

It is that kind of "casual piracy" that results in the protection
schemes you find on Microsoft products today. I guess if you are going
to steal anyway, it doesn't matter what excuse you give.

Using something you paid for is not stealing, Bob. The fact that you may
not be using it the way MS likes is not stealing but a breech of
contract, specifically the EULA which MS hasn't grown the balls to take
anyone to court for violating it because it is such an unconscionable
agreement that you only get to see after you can't get your money back
if you don't agree to the terms. So, please, get off your high moral
horse and back the users instead of kissing MS' ass all the time.

You paid for the license to use it only. Nothing else. Users need to
understand that... or start using software (F/OSS) that does not have
strings. The new Open Office is a great improvement on older versions and
reasonably compliant with interchanging MS Office files.

If you use software with strings, then respect the holder of the strings. If
you don't intend to do that, then either use something else or accept the
label you have earned.

I am buying a 2007 Office Standard Edition and wonder if I will be able to
install it on the 3 pc's I have for my personal use.

JoAnn said:
No. Standard is only for 2 systems, one desktop, one portable - your use.

<Pedant mode on> - actually the EULA doesn't state whether the primary
device must be a Desktop - the implication is that it could actually be
a laptop...<pedant mode off>
:)
