Installing / Reinstalling / Adding - Office / Media audio

I seem to have bad audio files in

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\MEDIA

I'd like to add my own audio files to this folder. Copying new WAV files
doesn't seem to do it.

Is there a supported method to install new WAV files in this folder?

Any way to reinstall the standard WAV files?

Hi K.C.,

How you're determining that the files are 'bad'? The basic Windows sound effects in that folder go back to Office 97 to be used by
the Windows control panel 'sounds' applet. If I recall correctly Windows Vista prefers to use formats other than .WMV, although
they should play in Media player.

PP 2007 seems to play a couple which have properties "length" greater than
zero.

The audio files with property "length" = 0 don't play.

It's a hunch that this is the problem. There are a couple of posts on this
subject in the net.

Hi K.C.,

It's possible that it's a Vista or Media Player rather than Office issue.

I'm able to play all of the 19 sounds (many with 'zero' length in Nero Showtime, Windows Media Player and Irfanview as well as when
inserted into a Powerpoint 2007 slide. In Irfanview, for example, the shortest actual length is 0.1 seconds for click.wav and
arrow.wav while Media Player reports them as 00:00. You may want to check to see what result you get with Irfanview,
http://irfanview.com

You may want to use the link below to also post this in the MS Office Powerpoint discussion group.
