We are in the process of building a new smart-client application, in which we
have the need to have users complete forms for data submission. Infopath
looks like a great technology for this, but the question remains around how
could we bundle the InfoPath engine for this functionality.
Ultimately, when a client downloads our app, we could embed Infopath or an
InfoPath plug-in with our app. Is there any consideration for this?
Alternativley, if we can't do that, we might want to convert the InfoPath
generated XSN into a WinForms page, which we could then leverage. In this
model, we use InfoPath as our designer, and then download the XSN's to the
client machines with the smart-client. We then convert the XSN into a
winforms page. Not ideal, but possible.
FYI, we are already using the InfoView control to generate the asp.net
forms, but we now need a client side conversion as well. It seems that
Microsoft should allow the ISV's out here to bundle/buy licensing for this
type of deployment.
