Integrating specific tasks of a sub-project into a master project

I am looking to integrate specific tasks in a sub-project into a master
project. In other words, I don't want to use the 'Insert Project' option,
which links up (or attaches) the ENTIRE sub-project into the master. I just
require specific tasks to appear in the master.

One solution I figured out involved using a custom-defined flag on the tasks
I want in teh master, filter them out, and paste-special as a 'Text'. But
what happens here is I am not able to trace any changes that happen to the
sub-project. Is there a way to have specified tasks AS WELL AS link up the
sub-project and the main project, so that the changes in the sub- get
reflected in the master?

Thanks very much!

Raja,
The Insert Project is an all or nothing method, but it still may be
appropriate for your needs. More on that later.

I recommend you NOT use the Paste Special method. It sets up paste links
and those are very fragile and prone to corruption.

There are two approaches that could work. The first is to go ahead and
use the Insert Project method and then simply filter out subproject
tasks that you do not want to see in the master. A second approach is to
set up external links between desired tasks in the subproject with the
master, and these will not be DDE links (i.e. paste links). External
links between files are in the form of external predecessors and
successors. There are various ways to set them up - check the Project
help file for specific information.

Hope this helps.
