Intentional HREF to a .lnk file, how do I lose the IE Security Warning?

I'd started a previous thread, "Slow Local AVI Playback" (here:
http://groups.google.com/group/micr...st&q=hectorlas&rnum=12&hl=en#2eb72782be626539),
this is part 2 of that, but it's more or less self-contained.

My goal is to have a local video file play quickly as soon as it's
hyperlink is clicked from a loaded, local html file. One way that
works almost as I'd like is to put a link to a shortcut on the webpage,
like

<a href="/Media/Halloween/Shortcut to
Halloween2002.avi.lnk">Halloween 2002</a>

As you probably guessed, I get the "File Download - Security Warning"
window asking "Do you want to open or save this file?".

I do want to open the file, and I want to open it automatically on the
condition that it's on the local drive. My son has limited access to
the net, he can't download anything without me coming over and logging
in as admin, so I'm not too worried about a bogus .lnk file being run.
Does anyone know how I can make that happen? Or taking it up a level,
does anyone have any tips on playing local video files from a web page?
I'm not interested in doing an app, at least not yet, I'd like to make
the html solution work.

Thanks.
Hector
