Intercepting hyperlink open to a non Word (e.g pdf) document from

I have hyperlinks to pdf files in my Word document. Prior to opening the PDF
document I want to intercept the code so I can prompt user for certain input.

any ideas?

Replace your hyperlinks with MACROBUTTON fields which include the hyperlink
destination. Clicking on the MACROBUTTON field will launch a macro which can
accept the information you want to obtain, and then process the embedded
hyperlink.
