I'm using Project Pro 2007, with a local project. I have a custom task field
with type=text. If I put in a comma anywhere in the value I get an error. Is
a comma not allowed in the value of a text lookup field?

It depends on what character is used as a delimiter in your environment, but
yes, using a comma is not possible in some environments. It is wise to avoid
most special characters in project fields.
