Is Local SMTP server required for setting up for E-mail notifications

Hi Everybody,

I am trying to get mail notifications on events. After going thru a
couple of posts, I figured that they have set-up an SMTP server on the
same machine where Project Server is set-up. Is it really necessary to
have a local SMTP server ; or we can give a remote SMTP server IP in
the settings.

Hi,

any SMTP-server in your network is good. Just make sure that

a) no AV software on your PWA-box is blocking outbound SMTP-traffic

b) the receiving SMTP accepts the IP of your PWA box and the sender address
that you use
