IS THERE AN IDIOTS GUIDE TO CREATING TOC ON MSWORD 2000?

no matter what! I keep getting this error"Error! No table of contents entries
found."
I have typed 18 pages of purely text document on word 2000, and now I wish
to create a Table of contents on the first page. I used help to assist but I
still get the same error.

You need to either use heading styles for your headings that you want in
your TOC (this is the easy way) or manually mark each entry for the TOC.
Then Word will create and upon request update a TOC for you. See
