Is there anywhere in MS word that measures fog index?

Writers often measure the level of their writing by means of a "fog index"
which measures the likley grade level of understanding. Is there any such
device in MS word?

Word calls it readability statistics.

In word 2003, click on the tools menu, select options. On the Spelling and
grammar tab, in the grammer section, check the Show readability statistics.

This function can be twitchy. Many users have discovered that the statistic
fails without notice. I have observed that this failure occurs when I insert
graphics or text that is associated with styles. It also occurs if I paste
certain types of symbols, em or en space, dash, etc.
