Issue with spell checker when using Microsoft Word as email editor

Stacey Carter

I have Microsoft Outlook 2003 (as part of Office 2003). In Outlook I have set Microsoft Word to be my email editor.

If a start a new email from scratch, and use Spell Checker, the Spelling and Grammar dialog box opens, and the Dictionary Language is ‘English (Australia)’. This is want I want it to be

However, if I choose to reply to an existing email, and then use Spell Checker to check the reply I’ve written, the Spelling and Grammar dialog box opens, and the Dictionary Language is ‘English (US)’. This is not what I want. I want to use the Australian dictionary. If I change the dictionary (by clicking on the drop down arrow and choosing ‘English (Australia)’) it changes straight back to ‘English (US)’ as soon as I do anything – i.e., it only uses the ‘English (Australia)’ dictionary for one word, then flips straight back to ‘English (US)’

In Control Panel, in Regional Settings, in the Languages tab, when I click on the Details button, I have the Default Input Language set as ‘English (Australia) – US’

When I use Microsoft Word and use the Spell Checker the default Dictionary Language is ‘English (Australia)â€

In Outlook, in the Options dialog box on the Spelling tab, down the bottom it has: Choose which dictionary to use when checking your spelling. I have this set to 'English (Australia)

Any help appreciated
