japanese text problem

I tried to copy/paste a text in japanese chars from IE to Word and it
worked. Then I tried to copy/paste a text in japanese chars from Adobe
Acrobat to Word and I get what must be the European "equivalents" of
the chars: "I", "0", "*" etc.
What can I do?
