Jet Compact Utility -- Does Not Work

Has anyone tried using Microsoft's Jet Compact Utility? When I try to
compact a database, I get an error messagebox saying "Error compacting
database". This occurs on ALL mdb files (not just the one corrupted mdb file
that I am trying to fix).

Does anyone know how to get the Jet Compact Utility to work?
