Jpegs just showing a dot in picture manager but can be viewed by .

I have a large number of digital pictures on my computer. When I view with
office picture manager(2003) most are ok but some are now just showing as a
'dot' on the screen. I know these Jpegs exists becuase when I view with
cannonzoom browser or just a ie browser they display ok. Any ideas?
