keep box format when i insert an object in the slide

Hi,
Can any one help?
when I insert an equation into any powerpoint slide, it changes the original
shape of the text box (that I have previously written in that slide) to make
space for the new object.
what I want is to insert that object just in line with my text. Can I do that?
