Keep Words Together on the Same Line

I would like to keep certain words always together on the same line. For example, for the name Sir Walter Raleigh, I'd like to keep Sir Walter always together, and not have Sir be the last word on a line, with Walter the first word on the next line. Another example would be keeping the date December 31, 2003 so that the month name and the day number are never broken, avoiding December as the last word of a line, with 31, being the first word on the next line.
