Keeping slide on screen

When using a PowerPoint slide show, how do I keep the last slide on the
screen at the end of the animation to stay onscreen long enough for the
viewer to read all of the information before the screen changes to black to
end the slide show?

Get rid of the Slide Transition on that slide. Make it transition on a
mouse click instead of a timed transition (Slide Show, Slide Transition)

What Bill said, and ...

If you still want it to advance to the next slide/end of show, just not so
soon, keep the transition, but add another object to your slide. Set the
animation for this object to do something (entrance or exit) several
seconds after the previous animation. You can drag this object off the
viewable area of the screen so no one will see it, but it will do its thing
before the transition to the next slide/end of show.
