Office 2003 doesn't work properly if you installed the Office 2000 SR-1
update and the data1.msi file is missing.

My data1.msi file is missing because my disk died and I replaced it .

So, I used the opportunity to upgrade office to 2003, but now every time I
click on "Personal Folders (to recall Outlook today)" I am in nagware hell.
You want a file I don't have anymore and it won't use the one from my CD-ROM.
and it won't take Cancel for an answer.

Good God. Whatever you need to run Office 2003 put it on the Office 2003 CD
already. This sucks!

What gives?

This is the most annoying customer experiences I have had with one of your
products and I go back a long ways.

Hi Moe,

If you're being prompted for a 2000 series product CD
you may want to check in Add/Remove Programs in the
Windows control panel to see if you have installed
Office 2000 CD#2, Word 2000, Frontpage 2000 or
Publisher 2000 (or other 2000 series products).

Data1.msi is a common named file but with different
contents in different 2000 series Office family of
products. If you don't have the CD for the installed
item (Word 2000 may be from Works Suite CD#1) you may
want to uninstall it. Office 2003, when installed only
upgrades the products it has a 'match' for on the CD.
Note that if you have a 2003 upgrade CD and need to
install it later you will need to have either a qualifying
product installed (such as one from the 2000 series)
or the CD for one of those products.
