L at the top and bottom of the page

Hello, I am new to all this and have run into a small
problem. When I open Word 2002 I always have an L at the
top and bottom of the page. They do not print, they just
anoy me. They look like this:

_| |_

Any help is very welcome.

Kathy,

These marks are a result of having an East Asian language enabled on your
system.

START>All Program>Micorsoft Office Tools>Microsoft Office (Your version)
Language Settings and disable any East Asian languages.
