Launching Office Docs in HTML

I have used MS Word (save as HTML) to create a local web-page with hyperlinks
to other word and excel documents. When I try the links in Word, they work
fine. However, when I open the page in Internet Explorer the links give me
an error (This page cannot be displayed).

How can I get the links to launch the office document(s)?

Please help!
